Culture War

A Little About The Logo:
There is an ad campaign going around on TV and the net called-
"I won't stand for......".  It is part of the USA networks 'Characters Unite'.  It is a can't we all just get along type of PSA.

The TV commercials have had USA network stars talking about differences and intolerance.  The newest version has different people sitting on the ground and wearing white t-shirts with- "I Won't Stand For _____________" and they have the blank written in with varying social injustices real and imagined. They are SITTING on the ground and they won't STAND FOR- get it???

So, I decided to start a campaign called I Won't Stand For Ungodliness with a silhouette of someone praying- get it KNEELING not STANDING.  {{Sometimes I am so clever.}

The %ers:
Well now, that is obvious.  It comes from the recent bogus social events around the country.  There are those who have divided the country between the 1%ers who have it all and the 99%ers who are being oppressed by the 1%ers.   In the church the 99%ers have placed themselves in the role of the 'real church' or the 'needy victims' of an oppressive religious system.  That simply leaves us 1%ers to fix the day :).

A Little About The Campaign:
The 1%ers: are those willing to stand up and stand strong for Christ within (notice within) their various congregations.  Those willing to question with boldness their own salvation and also the doctrines being taught in their classes and from the pulpit.  Those willing to in a Christ-like manner demand scriptural sermons and Bible based classes for themselves and their congregation.  Those willing to cause a spiritual change in their congregations and bring worship back to the Lord's Day- and end this group meeting; good time to get things announced; pep rally for us; various group and Church program announcement hour- carried out on His Day in the name of worship.  Those willing to stay where they are and make a spiritual difference in their congregations.  Those willing to be ridiculed and ostracized by their own brethren for their commitment to Christ.

The 99%ers: are those brethren who believe attendance is more important than attitude "at church".  Those who want to be soothed and pampered and made to feel welcome in their own Father's house.  Those who want to be schmoozed and courted to serve Christ.  Those who have bought into the 1970's idea that the Sunday morning gathering is a spiritual clinic for the spiritually diseased and leprous of God's people- that the Lord's gathering on the Lord's Day is a "hospital for the spiritually ill".  Those who shop for congregations based on day care and social needs.  Those with itching ears who need to hear a different Gospel every Lord's Day or they get bored with the same 'old stories'.  They are those who truly need to be shown godliness on God's Day.

Just A Note:
The body of Christ in too many instances has become self-centered and worldly minded.  We have in far too many places replaced the presence of God in our lives and our assemblies with a preeminence for self.  Over and over I hear elders and assembly leaders calling out "Isn't it great to be here with each other?"  or "Isn't this just the most wonderful place to be and what about those elders?" while the crowds cheer on at the Sunday morning assembly/pep rally.  Where is God?  Where is God's word?  I see brethren actually congratulating each other and receiving and requiring congratulations for 'making it to worship' and 'coming out to be with us' as if that were in itself some kind of spiritual triumph to boast and glory about. {Plus I never really do know who the "us" is.} Have we gotten so weak and/or so self-centered that our mere attendance at this 'church event' is worthy of praise?

I know.  All of this sounds real "judgmental" and "too primitive" for many. I want us to understand that love for the world is evil- that friendship with evil is damnable. I will for the next few weeks try to show us just how far the world around us has fallen and to simply ask the question- "What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?"
